Leveraging the skillset and relationships developed during his tenure as a trusted advisor in the public accounting field, Thomas Fey founded EMF Capital in 2003 along with several affiliated service providers and investment funds (collectively, the “EMF Group”) as an entrepreneurial real estate investment company and investment advisory firm. As the founder, Thomas has raised $150 million in private placement capital and financing to source investment opportunities mainly in the residential real estate sector. Renowned for its commitment to delivering strong risk-adjusted returns and driving sustainable growth, EMF Capital has benefited from Thomas’s expertise in crafting tailored investment strategies that drive value for investors.
Thomas continues to serve as president of EMF Capital with a fully immersed and hands-on role in the analysis of investment opportunities and day-to-day operations. During the economic downturn of 2008, Thomas spearheaded the vertical integration of the company, transitioning EMF Capital from a primarily passive investment conduit to an integrated real estate operator. Under the direction of Thomas, the EMF Group transformed from a collection of internal division overseeing the investments of EMF Capital to a cohesive compilation of standalone companies providing management services to a diverse mixture of external real estate clients. During the transformation and external growth of the companies, the EMF Group grew from an internal accounting and administrative division with three employees to a full-scale service provider with over 50 employees.
Prior to his role at the EMF Group, Thomas gained valuable experience at Ernst & Young, where he served as a business advisory and tax consultant senior manager. He played a key role in the development of tax services aimed at driving strategic initiatives for corporate clients such as cash flow acceleration, funding of capital projects, and earnings per share growth. His strategic guidance on corporate acquisitions, mergers, and reorganizations resulted in significant financial performance improvements for clients, highlighting his proficiency in navigating complex financial landscapes and delivering tangible results.
Thomas is a graduate of Florida State University, holding a master’s degree in accounting and a bachelor of science degree in accounting. He is also a certified public accountant registered with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
